Who wants to raid Washington DC?

Yes, I have been absent...but lets be honest, there are 2 of you....but I saw this article today and it is pretty disturbing. (Get me some friends I will post more!!)

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/10/28/afghanistan.taliban.pay/index.html

In a nutshell, there is a bill (that has been signed) and it will allocate certain funds to PAY militants that are in the Taliban to 'switch sides' and basically be on 'our side'. Seriously? Washington, is this all you can come up with? We are paying people that have been fighting against us for years and killed many Americans and innocent Afghans, etc?

I don't know which is worse...nationalizing all illegal immigrants or paying murderers to 'be on our side'.

"There's been an amnesty program for low-level Taliban in place for many years now and thousands of people have taken advantage of it," he said. "So this is not entirely a new idea. The idea of bribing people, local guys, to come over. ... It's one of the most cost-effective ways to get people to lay down their arms, either to negotiate a peace or coerce them."

So I wonder if congress and our President have thought about the backlash that this could have....it seems to me that all the top Taliban militants have to do to regain the 'loyalty' of those switching sides for pay is to kidnap their families and children. Can we compete with that? Unfortunately....probably.
